About
The Times film critic Cosmo Landesman once described ‘criticism’ as the art of not necessarily knowing how to drive the car but knowing the best route to take. In this analogy ‘The Artist’ and ‘The Critic’ both work towards what is best and aid each other. I tend to see ‘The Blogger’ as a back seat driver that is only concerned with the route they want to take regardless of art; that’s not always a bad thing (my favourites are listed on the blogroll) and not necessarily a truism but is as different from the writing you will see in Sight & Sound (in both style and intent) as that writing is from the content of Total Film…
…with that in mind, CinemaScream is a mildly pretentious sometimes sporadic film blog that I use to get my feelings about film and cinema off my chest. My only claim is that what I write is true to my own feelings about film. I definitely don’t consider myself to be a ‘critic’*, if that is what you want then there are plenty of newspapers and books that you can buy (actually pay for) to read the words of far more insightful minds than mine, but I do have plenty to say. Yep, some of it is idiosyncratic and sometimes contradictory but these are my honest reactions to the 20th Century’s greatest, most democratic art form. And if I ever use the phrase ‘worst movie ever’ or it’s glowing opposite then I’ll shut this down.
On a personal level, I’m a Guernsey based film obsessive who studied Film and Film & Cinema Technologies at Winchetser University. I love the Super 8 format and was awarded ‘Best Channel Islands Entry’ at the Guernsey Lily International Non-Commercial Film Festival 2010 for my short film ‘Into the Woods’.
I am also a committee member with CineGuernsey, a local film society that screens offbeat and world cinema gems that didn’t play at our local cinema (facebook) and am currently attempting to establish Sarnia Shorts, a local short film festival that will take over where the above mentioned Guernsey Lily left off (facebook).

CinemaScream can also be found on Facebook and Twitter should you be that way inclined…
