The Mallard: 9th May - 15th May 2008

A bit late today but then I assume that the festivities in town will be keeping most people occupied - and by the way, Happy Liberation Day!

…anyway if you do fancy the cinema tonight, or during the upcoming week then The Mallard has two new films for your enjoyment.  First up (in an attempt to get it out of the way quickly) is What Happens In Vegas.  The wheeze here is that two people (Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz) are in Vegas getting over various pieces of bad luck.  They meet, drink too much and get married.  The next morning they decide that they really don’t like each other and get ready to seek an annulment before one of them wins a huge jackpot.  In a highly likely turn of events a judge rules that they must try and make their marriage work or neither of them will get the money - who can guess what happens next?  I saw some footage of this at Total Film’s Red Carpet Preview event a few weeks back and there where audible groans of pain and suffering in the theatre.

Moving on to this week’s main event; Speed Racer.  Directed by the pretentious pair known as The Warchowski Brothers this adaptation of the cult cartoon is gonna do some big business and I’m certainly going to be checking this one out.  It has all that markings of being both complete rubbish and a cracking cinema experience.  Check it out if you can handle all the colours.
