…and so it goes. No sooner do I mention the lack of English-language drama depicting Nazi occupation then the following week’s DVD releases contain exactly that.
Enemy At The Door was first broadcast in 1978 and tells the story of the German Occupation of Guernsey during World War II – of course by ‘tell the story’ I mean it is based in Guernsey and Guernsey was occupied but none of the characters are supposed to be actual ‘real’ people (I don’t think the Island is quite ready for that). Instead it recreates the conditions and dilemmas faced by the locals and their ‘guests’.
Should be an interesting watch and will hopefully be better than the dramatically bland Island At War.
Series 1 and 2 (both rated 12) are released on Monday 28 April 2008.
